Three Months

Ben is officially 3 months old today! These last 3 months have flown by, but it feels like he has been in our lives a lot longer than that.

Some current stats: 14.5 pounds, 24 1/4" long.
His favorite pastimes include:

Reading
Grabbing his feet or the legs of his pants
Attempting to put almost anything in his mouth

He also enjoys tummytime now that he is stronger. Clearly I also enjoy tummytime, as you can hear on the soundtrack.

The Sound of Music

Finally, I have the captive audience that I've been waiting for all my life. Ben actually enjoys my song (and occasional dance) routines. In fact, sometimes my singing is the only thing that will soothe him. Fortunately Ben doesn't realize that I am a terrible singer. We've sung our way through the golden oldies and the Grease 2 songbook, but he especially enjoys "Baby I Love You" and "Be My Baby." These two songs always seem to calm him when he is fussy and ready for a little nap. Of course it may be that my singing is so bad that his only recourse is to fall asleep to escape the sound of my voice.

Visitors

Several family members took advantage of my last non-working week to come visit us. Grammy (i.e., Harold's Mom) took us to lunch on Wednesday. She has quite a way with Ben!

My sister Teresa and her daughters Megan and Sydney came to visit us on Friday. Sydney and Megan gave Mortimer a bath (he REALLY needed it) and Teresa helped us with some yardwork, for which we are extremely grateful!

Last but not least, here's me and my little guy. And of course Mortimer, overseeing the proceedings.

Picture Preview

We had Ben's pictures taken by real photographers (as opposed to me) last week. We don't have them all back yet but here's a preview. These copies are scanned in, so they are not the best quality. But you can clearly see that Ben really is the cutest baby ever.

Peekaboo

Ben is sort of, kind of playing peekaboo with the bouncy seat fish in the video below.

Ben also has a new puppy that my friend Erin's Mom gave us. He likes to grab it by the ear and wave it around.

Note the cute corduroys. He'll be too big for them by the time next fall rolls around.

Mortimer & Ben

I think Mortimer is ready for Ben to be able to throw the ball.

Ben's Best Friends

Ben has already acquired three best friends: the fish on top of his bouncy seat.

He loves to sit in his bouncy chair and talk to these guys. He smiles and giggles and carries on quite lengthy conversations with them. Perhaps we have a budding marine biologist on our hands.

In other Ben news, he is now grasping objects with his hands. The rattle that his Grammy gave him is perfect as it is not too big for his little hands.
